RULES
- Fire rating is to be checked, before planning firebreaks or burning down of lands
- Firebreaks may not be done in the mornings, only from late afternoons
- If lands need to be burned down, the Sector leader must approve and if applicable a CARA permit
- Firebreaks must be completed by the end of JULY 2024
- The FPA will only permit burning when the FDI <50 and wind speed is <20 Km/h
- Fires of any nature are prohibited during a cold front
- If you are not on the farm you need to elect a representative, delegate a responsible person
- It is your responsibility to own fire fighting equipment
- It is your responsibility to extinguish fires on your farm
- Channel must be used to communicate at a fire
COMMUNICATION RULES
A – FIRE BREAKS – PLANNED FIRE
- Check Fire Rating on “Devon INLIGTING”
- Contact and inform Neighbours
- Inform the members via “Devon INLIGTING”, and include pin drop location
B – BURN DOWN LANDS / CATTLE CAMPS / CONTOURS OUT OF SEASON
- Request permission from Sector Leader
- Check Fire Rating on “Devon INLIGTING”
- Contact and inform Neighbours
- Inform the members via “Devon INLIGTING”, and include pin drop location
C – UNPLANNED FIRE – IF YOU HAVE AN UNPLANNED FIRE ON YOUR PROPERTYContact and inform Neighbours
- Using your fire fighting equipment kill the fire
- Contact and inform Neighbours
- Inform the members via “Devon INLIGTING”, and include pin drop location
- If the situation poses a threat such as a run away fire use “Devon Brand en Nood”
D – SEE SMOKE
- Investigate if possible, check the “Devon INLIGTING”
- Contact Sector Leader
- Inform the members via “Devon INLIGTING”, and include pin drop location
E – OUT OF CONTROL FIRE – RISK TO ALL
- In the event that at the source and neighboring farmers are unable to control/extinguish the fire send a message on “Devon Brand en Nood”, give details and pin drop location
