RULES

  1. Fire rating is to be checked, before planning firebreaks or burning down of lands
  2. Firebreaks may not be done in the mornings, only from late afternoons
  3. If lands need to be burned down, the Sector leader must approve and if applicable a CARA permit
  4. Firebreaks must be completed by the end of JULY 2024
  5. The FPA will only permit burning when the FDI <50 and wind speed is <20 Km/h
  6. Fires of any nature are prohibited during a cold front
  7. If you are not on the farm you need to elect a representative, delegate a responsible person
  8. It is your responsibility to own fire fighting equipment
  9. It is your responsibility to extinguish fires on your farm
  10. Channel must be used to communicate at a fire

COMMUNICATION RULES

A – FIRE BREAKS – PLANNED FIRE

  1. Check Fire Rating on “Devon INLIGTING”
  2. Contact and inform Neighbours
  3. Inform the members via “Devon INLIGTING”, and include pin drop location

B – BURN DOWN LANDS / CATTLE CAMPS / CONTOURS OUT OF SEASON

  1. Request permission from Sector Leader
  2. Check Fire Rating on “Devon INLIGTING”
  3. Contact and inform Neighbours
  4. Inform the members via “Devon INLIGTING”, and include pin drop location

C – UNPLANNED FIRE – IF YOU HAVE AN UNPLANNED FIRE ON YOUR PROPERTYContact and inform Neighbours

  1. Using your fire fighting equipment kill the fire
  2. Contact and inform Neighbours
  3. Inform the members via “Devon INLIGTING”, and include pin drop location
  4. If the situation poses a threat such as a run away fire use “Devon Brand en Nood”

D – SEE SMOKE

  1. Investigate if possible, check the “Devon INLIGTING”
  2. Contact Sector Leader
  3. Inform the members via “Devon INLIGTING”, and include pin drop location

E – OUT OF CONTROL FIRE – RISK TO ALL

    1. In the event that at the source and neighboring farmers are unable to control/extinguish the fire send a message on “Devon Brand en Nood”, give details and pin drop location

  1. Brandgevaarindeks moet nagegaan word voordat voorbrande beplan of lande gebrand word
  2. Brandstroke/voorbrande mag nie in die oggend gedoen word nie, net laat middag
  3. Die sektor leier moet die brand van lande vooraf goedkeur. Indien van toepassing, doen ‘n aansoek om ‘n CARA-permit
  4. Voorbrande moet teen die einde van JULIE 2024 afgehandel wees
  5. Die BBV sal slegs verbranding toelaat wanneer die FDI <50 en windspoed <20 Km/h is
  6. Vuur van enige aard word verbied tydens ‘n koue front
  7. ‘n Verteenwoordiger of verantwoordelike persoon moet aangewys word indien jy nie op die plaas is nie
  8. Dit is u verantwoordelikheid om brandbestrydingstoerusting te besit
  9. Dit is jou verantwoordelikheid om brande op jou plaas te blus
  10. Kanaal 4 moet gebruik word om by ‘n brand te kommunikeer
